Annotation
[1] AD, CSmH. In a deposition taken before Thomas Moffett, September 2, 1837, in the case of Elijah Houghton v. Heirs of David Hart, Lincoln said that he had surveyed this tract for David Hart in the fall of 1834, and that Hart had sold the same to Houghton. Lincoln's endorsement on the verso of the document reads ``Houghton. Notes for a 12 acre tract,'' which suggests that the document may have been made from the record in preparation for Houghton's suit against the heirs of Hart, no deed having been executed by Hart.
