Hon: Secretary of War House of Representatives
Dear Sir: July 17- 1848

A claim of Dr. A. G. Henry, late of Pekin, Illinois, for transportation, and some other expenses of volunteers, has been in part disallowed by the accounting officers, as not being within the Joint Resolution of March 3, 1847. His account, together with his evidence of it's correctness, is in the Third Auditor's office, and [I] have now to request that you will direct a re-examination of the claim, under the act of June 2, 1848 a printed copy of which herewith enclosed. I also enclose a copy of former proceedings in the case. Very Respectfully A LINCOLN

Annotation

[1]   ALS, IHi. On December 20, 1847, Lincoln had presented to congress Henry's petition for reimbursement.
