Gentlemen: The copies of the Globe and Appendix to which I am entitled, I shall thank you to retain and deliver to me at the end of the session. Respectfully A. LINCOLN
Annotation
[1] ALS, owned by Stratford Lee Morton, St. Louis, Missouri. This letter is undated, but is written on the bottom of the printed circular which Blair & Rives distributed to members of congress with information concerning the printing of the Congressional Globe. One infers that the circular was distributed in December, 1847, or January, 1848, and that Lincoln's reply was probably penned shortly thereafter.
