To Isaac Williams [1]

Friend Williams: Springfield, April 24th. 1846

When I saw you at Washington, I understood that it might be inconvenient for you to attend the Petersburg convention. [2] I have come a little more anxious since I saw you, that the convention shall be full; and I write this to let you know that if it is inconvenient for you to attend, our friend, B. F. James, will willinglyPage  380 go as a substitute for you. Please be sure to attend, ``or send a hand'' Yours truly A. LINCOLN
