Surveyed for Jesse Gum the following tracts of land ---(viz) 1st. Composed of the North half of Section 32---and the South East quarter of Section 29---the East half and South West fourth of the North East quarter of Section 29 and the South West fourth of North West quarter of Section 28---in Township 18 North of Range 7 West. Begining at the South East corner of said tract at a rock. Thence North 80 chains to a rock. Thence East 20 chains to

[1]   ADS, Sotheby's Auction 5-13-87. Jesse Gum was a farmer whose land, as surveyed by Lincoln, lay between Petersburg and Tallula, now in Menard County.

[2]   Quercus lyrata, a variety of oak.

[3]   Thomas was Jesse Gum's son, and Jeremiah Davis was Jesse Gum's son-in-law.
