[January 25, 1840]

A bill for an act to dissolve the bands of matrimony between Nathaniel B. Martin, and Sarah Martin his wife.

Be it enacted by the people of the state of Illinois represented in the General Assembly: That the bands of matrimony existing between Nathaniel B. Martin and Sarah Martin, his wife, be, and they are hereby forever dissolved.

Annotation

[1]   AD, I-Ar. Lincoln reported the bill on January 25 from the select committee to which Sarah Martin's petition had been referred. Her petition bears minor emendations in Lincoln's hand. The bill passed the House but died in the Senate.
