Correspondence, 1844-1895

Series Overview

The earliest correspondence is from William King to his brothers, while working as a merchant in China in the late 1840s. They mainly concern trade conducted by Russell and Co., and frequently include figures and purchasing instructions. During early 1850s, King wrote several letters from New York, discussing stocks and business matters. From the mid-1860s to the 1890s, the most frequent topic of discussion became William King’s mental health.
