There are remnants of weft twining near each edge of the blue/purple band. These twining rows are 0.3 cm and 0.7 cm from the edges. The twining loops pass over two warps. Another fragment (fragment B) was attached to this fragment by sewing, apparantlyasa patch.

Small fragment of woven wool fabric with yellow warp and blue/black (somewhat greenish) weft. There are two tiny fragments of fabrics that were sewn to this fragment. One is yellow, with a plied warp and the other is yellow warp and blue/purple weft. There are several rows of sewing on this fragment.

Sprang cap with red main element and yellow and green patterning. There is a complete meeting line but only small fragments of the closing cord. There is a remnant of the sewn on border and part of the purple drawstring which is still through a few loops. There are two side seams. The narrow yellowed woven strap associated with the cap is probably not part of it.

There is a hem along one side with a long section that has been torn from the rest of the fabric and tied in an overhand knot. (Knotted end.) Brown warp and weft are visible in the knot, indicating that there was brown weft below the 11 cm wide purple band. One edge at the end of the dark purple band was folded and sewn.

Small fragment of pale brown wool fabric with one side folded over once and sewn to a long, narrow fragment of a similar fabric. The smaller fragment has been rolled and used asa cord inside the hem. At the opposite side of the main fabric, another fragment has been attached. All three fragments appear to be very similar, although the larger attached fragment is more densely woven.

Fragment of fine yellowed woven wool fabric. There are stitches near the center which draw the fabric together in a tuck and there are stitches at one edge that attacha small piece of what appears to be the same fabric. There is a small remnant of a rolled hem along the same edge.

Fragment of brown/gold woven wool fabric with part of a selvedge along one edge. At one corner, there is a remnant (2 cm x 1.5 cm) of a purple dovetail tapestry rectangle with two rows of linen weft (2 picks each row) 1.1 cm apart. These two rows are discontinuous and there are other remnants of linen weft, possibly weft-wrapping. There are several miscellaneous stitches in two shades of brown. A repair was made at the corner of the selvedge opposite from the tapestry.

Fragment B - warp 13.5 cm, weft 8 cm. Brown/gold

Fragment C - warp 4.5 cm, weft 4 cm. Brown/gold

Fragment D - warp 3.5 cm, weft 29 cm. Yellow warp and weft with app. 2 cm purple weft band with small amount of white linen patterning. There is a row of countered weft twining 0.3 cm from purple weft band. The twining loops pass over two warps.

Fragment A - A very fragmented piece of brown woven wool fabric that has been sewn to two other fragments. This piece has several bands of dark dull purple wool. These bands measure 0.4 cm, 0.5 cm, 0.6 cm and 1.2 cm wide with at least 0.3 cm of brown/gold in between most of them. This fragment is very deteriorated and brittle and is in several pieces. It is attached to the other two fragments by a coarse 2-ply linen yarn.

Fragment B - Fragment of undyed linen fabric that has been sewn between fragments Aand C.

Fragment C - Fragment of fine brown/gold woven wool fabric which has been sewn to fragments Aand B with a coarse linen yarn. There areat least two smaller pieces of this same fragment that were sewn on top at right angles to the large piece.

Fragment A has a purple weft band 2.3 cm wide, approximately in the center of the fragment. There is a row of countered weft-twining 0.2 cm from the purple band. The row is 4.8 cm long and the twining loops pass over three warps.

Fragment B - Small fragment of yellowed woven wool fabric that was sewn to 11711a. A second piece of this fragment is sewn to the opposite side of 11711a. This smaller piece is 3 cm warpwise, 1 cm weftwise.

Fragment A - Several fragments of brown/gold woven wool fabric connected with coarse linen stitches. The above measurements areapproximate. There are small areas of green and blue/black weft. The green weft is very damaged, consisting of a few fibers tangled within the weave. At the opposite end there is a narrow band of blue/black (0.1 cm wide), possibly four picks. One of these fragments may actually be from another fabric. The weave is almost balanced plain weave. These fragments areall connected to fragments of two other fabrics. (B & C)

Fragment B - Small fragment of woven undyed linen fabric that has been sewn to fragment A with coarse linen stitches.

Fragment C - Small fragment of brown woven wool fabric with a 1 cm blue/black band at one edge. This fragment is attached to fragment A by a single piece of linen sewing yarn. Also, several of this fragment’s warp yarns are caught up in the fabric of fragment A.

This fragment consists of three different fabrics; two sewn together, the third, adhered to the surface. Fragment B1 is brown/gold, fragment B2 is dark brown. These two are sewn together with several different sewing yarns. Fragment B1 is folded in several places andappears to be in more than one piece. Fragment B2 folds over B1 in places. Fragment B3 is yellowed and has adhered to the surface of B1.

Three fragments of brown/gold woven wool fabric, probably from the same web. The above measurements are for the larger of the three pieces. The small pieces are 7 cm warp x 3.5 cm weft and 2.5 cm x 3 cm. This appears to be a type of pile weave. Supplementary weft is used to add thickness and, possibly, a looped weft. The background wefts are used in pairs. There are tiny fragments of red wool at one corner of the larger piece.
