- Full Artifact Description
- Remarks: This implement was hafted at a right angle to its handle. It is a simple ascia and resembles a how with a head tapering in thickness. An unusual feature is its thick, heavy socket. This tool could have been used as a carpenter's adze, a mason's tool, or brick layer's chopper. In agriculture it may have been used to break up the ground. The heavy socket suggests that it was employed in jobs that required considerable striking power.
