Full Artifact Description
Mended: foot and lower half of stem modern. Black clay with polished surface. Around exterior is band stamped from a cylinder containing the following units: 1) a man in a long straight peplos, seated to the right on a throne, beneath which is a bird; his left hand is raised as if to greet 2) a man wearing a loin cloth who is striding left and carrying a bow 3) a woman in a long belted peplos with her hair in a long braid stands facing left with a garland in her left hand and her right hand upraised 4) a woman clad similar to #3 faces left grasping the braid of #3 with her right hand and raising her left hand 5) a man apparently nude except for a belt stands facing right holding a spear as if on guard 6) a man in a long peplos is sitting to the right on a klismos holding a garland in his right hand; in front of him stands 7) a woman facing left dresses like #3 with a garland in her left hand and her right hand upraised. The complete scene is repeated four times with numbers 1-3 repeated five times.
Gazda: Drinking cup (chalice). Clay, bucchero sottile, cylinder-impressed and incised decoration. Stem and foot are restored.
