- Mr. Parmelee was sick but is better. Finished haying. Has money from Gilbert to pay Mr. Judd. Proposal to Mr. Judd, that he take half of the hay, while James gets half the hay, the corn, oats, potatoes, buckwheat, oxen, and yoke. Gave it all to his wife and left to enlist in the army; is now at Grand Rapids. Writing the letter on his knee. Will be able to visit home one more time before leaving the state, "may be I shall never go Home again." Printed letterhead, engraved bust of George Washington, blue ink.
