Another year in the field of Lincoln scholarship has passed. Yet, judging from the following bibliography, the scholarship goes on unabated. Not only is Lincoln scholarship maintaining a steady output in the traditional area of print material but it is also expanding into the ever-widening influence of alternative sources. The works of multimedia products now available in CD-ROM format are expanding at a rate greater than any area in Lincoln scholarship except for the Internet. The number of Internet sites now devoted or partially dealing with Abraham Lincoln is amazing. A cursory examination of the Internet using search software reveals over 10,000 documents that use the combination of Abraham Lincoln. As Internet use increases with more and more people purchasing computers, there will be a shift toward putting publications online. Lincoln scholarship is not immune; therefore, next year's "Lincolniana" will include interesting and pertinent Internet sites that deal specifically with Abraham Lincoln.
This year's "Lincolniana" has expanded to include as many sources as could be identified. I realize that some publications are not as readily indexed as more widely circulated journals. Please send any citations to works that deal with Abraham Lincoln to me so that I may publish as all-inclusive a bibliography as possible. References can be directed to me care of this journal or by e-mail ([email protected]).
