Box 218 Yorktown Heights, NY 10598 USA dnj~watson. ibm. corn Abstract The IBM Computer Music Centre was recently established to pursue three primary goals: research, commercial applications, and music composition & performance. The Computer Music Centre draws its members from both academia and industry, with the intent of fostering creative interchange between the two worlds. It seeks to combine a broad-based understanding of academic research with commercial product development experience. Thus, the Computer Music Centre is an attempt to provide a good model for merging academic and industry perspectives. We expect that the results of our work will be beneficial both to IBM and to the academic computer music community. (This paper will be provided as addenda upon receipt.
