seq. [unnumbered]

got through very well—called out—made a speech—three cheers, etc! Not having spouted for some time I got exceedingly hoarse. This night closed Thorne's last attempt at management—He kept the house open five weeks at a loss—as he told me, of $1250—It was thought that he would have carried the place through with success but his failure was not to be wondered at for the company was a very poor one and there was little attraction, of any kind, brought forward—want of energy was apparent in everything.
