Pleasant—down town [sic downtown] A.M. in company with George visited the Crystal Palace P.M. it is a sight well worth seeing though the arrangements are not yet complete—many of the what will be the most attractive features of the exhibition not being yet unarranged It would require about three days to make a careful examination of all the articles exhibited—slipThe statuary was most pleasing to me, slipand that pleasure was heightened by the fact that the the American sculpture bore the palm. Power's Greek-Slave, as a piece of art, is the most perfect thing I ever saw. It was at the world's Fair in London and excited the admiration of all the European connoisseurs. We were there from one to seven P.M and then, having taken a casual glance at nearly everything, we left completely tired out—To bed early.
