Pleasant—Reading—downtown A.M. For the last three or four months I have been trying in vain to get an instrument made like a shephards [sic shepherd's] pipe to be played upon with the same fingering necessary to a fife, I called upon several of the first musical instrument makers but they all said it could be not be done—I thought damageit could, yet began to despair to despair of having it done, as no persodamagen thadamage thus far, applied to damageld undertake damage job..
