. Fine day—wife worse—dry-cupped her—blistered and gave a purgative—Rehearsal. A.M. Reading & writing. P.M—took a nap also—At Theatre 7 P.M.—1st night of the "Ethiop, or Child of the Desert"—It is well gotten up—some of the scenery is beautiful. The stage-manager [sic stage manager] deserves but little credit for the success of the piece—that belongs to the company—the artist & costumer. The business, as arranged by Sarzedas, was poor indeed
