A perfect april-fool [sic April-fool] day—no one could tell what the weather would settle itself into—it rained and snowed—was cloudy and clear by degrees—and nothing long—mother's birth day [sic birthday] —64 years old may she see twenty years more and all sunshine—Reading and Rehearsing—settled up my benefit—cleared over $100 by it—the best benefit I ever had, and the best given to a stock actor in this city for many years—Study P.M. at Theatre 7 P.M. Benefit of H Chapman. His house was not as good as mine although he had the best night in the week and the attraction of an amateur's first appearance on the stage—a gentleman well known in this city
