file of newspaper clippings, editorials, position papers, timely
reports, etc., which should bo utilizod by the committee.
This is only part of a very largo mass of paper-work, research and
other administrative details facing this Comzitteo. If all of us in
this room took on the job of sorting, analyzing, inventorying and
developing facts and ideas from those and other sources, we certainly
would have no time left for the real work of this Committee.
So to complete the set of tools we would clearly need, I asked for;apprary help from some of the largo organizations which have
international reputations for capable management. Those included
industries, utilities, banks, the UAW, the Dotroit Board of Education,
accounting firms and others. They were asked for experienced executives,
and told that if these people wouldn't be missed from their regular jobs
they probably wouldn't be good enough to do the jobs we needed them for.
We now have more than a dozen of these fine temporary people, and some
clerical staff from Letropolitan Fund, very much at work analyzing and
organizing to be effoctive for you and for what our Coaittoe must now
set out to do. I know that wo can count on any further assistance that
proves necessary as we move along. We have more than 150 letters offering
assistance.
For or anizational purposes, we have assigned these people according
to the five broad subject-headings which were indicated in my letter
to you, and which you now have at your placos. These subjects have
