In conifers, mostly fir, growing in fasciculate bundles on much decayed coniferous duff (humus) not on needles and twigs, rarely solitary, between 10-20 fruiting bodies in a bunch This specimen was cited by its Wells-Kempton field number, a combination of the date and an individually assigned specimen number, and was later given the Wells-Kempton Herbarium no. 2028.
