Along old dirt road into woods, under partial shade of Fraxinus americana and Ulmus americana. Other sedges in vicinity: Carex cephalophora, C. blanda, C. cristatella, C. gracilescens, C. hirtifolia, and C. amphiloba. Especially common along old dirt road.
