Winter operations, 1970-1971 / John C. Ayers, Norbert W. O'Hara, William L. Yocum.
any given time is a balance between the constructive and destructive forces. On the whole, as winter deepens the constructive forces dominate, and as spring progresses the destructive forces become dominant. It should be recorded, in passing, that the destructive factors have one member (sand-melting) that works everywhere at all times, while the rejuvenating factors work dramatically, but sporadically, on the ridge face where wave action is present. 16
