The life and letters of Benjamin Jowett, M. A., master of Balliol college, Oxford.

320 Lzfe of Benjamin Jowett to the payment of certain specific sums, and because on an appeal of the Students in I629 the King as Visitor had stated that the improved Revenues of the House wholly and properly belonged to the Dean and Chapter. This resolution was intimated by the Dean to the Vice-Chancellor on February I7, I865 1. 1 The Dean declares (May, 1895) had great difficulty in bringing that even at the last moment he the Chapter to agree to this.
