148 The Negro's Church Anticipating Another World Other-worldly expressions occur in the closing sentences of some of the prayers. (1) And when we are called from time to eternity, we will not go before the justice bar wanting, but having done the things commendable in Thy presence forever and ever. Amen. (2) Bless Thy children, and when we come to press a dying pillow may we hear the sweet voice of Him, who taught us to say, OurLord's Prayer chanted by the choir, Amen. (3) Bless all for whom we are duty bound to pray. Bless the unemployed, bless the suffering everywhere. Then, dear Father, when we have finished our work, when all our work is over here and when we can do no more for Thy Kingdom among the children of men, bring us into Thy presence where all the redeemed of God are blessed. Amen. The Present World References to the present world-order are more often general than special. (1) We pray for the sick. Bless the low in spirit. Bless this city of ours, 0 Lord. Bless this country and the world over. Bless the conditions of this country, we ask Thee. Give us peace and love and charity towards all mankind. Give us power. Give us a greater desire to serve Thee. We ask in Thy name. (2) Some have come this morning because of bereavement over the loss of a loved one, some have come because of the economic depression that is prevalent and they haven't the necessary comforts of life. As one listens to these prayers, and as one reads them, they are impressive primarily because there is a deep ring of sincerity in each of them.
