Never advertise what you cannot deliver. A
pass denotes weakness; a bid indicates ability to
fulfill contract, willingness to be assisted, and either
one sure trick held or holdings justifying further
contracting in case your partner returns to his own
make or doubles an opposing declaration. Shun the
"rescue bids" sometimes advocated when partner
bid an Auction Bridge no trump; it is worse than
useless for a man who cannot swim to jump overboard in an attempt to rescue someone who can
