Players should accept illustrative hands as examples for procedure, rather than as proofs of the
correctness of any hypothesis set forth. After the
13 cards of a single hand have been determined, the
remaining 39 cards may be dealt into 8,122,425,444
different hands, so that almost any diligent advocate
of a theory, whether right or wrong, should have
little trouble in offering many hands appearing to
support his views. Probabilities-not special examples-determine correct procedure. The following deal that I just saw made proves nothing;
it is offered merely as an illustration of proper handling of opening bids of 2-No Trumps and proper
action by the opening bidder's partner.
