S. bulan: a hazel-worm or filbert-worm.
S. puteri: a name given to a bird (unidentified) and also to a big timber tree, pentace
triptera.
S. raja: a name sometimes given to the
bird of paradise.
AL s6poh. Giving a gloss to anything, polishing
gold, glazing earthenware, enamelling. Saperti mas beharu di-sapoh, or saperti mas yang
sudah thrsgpoh: like polished gold, a simile
for a beautiful white-yellow complexion; Ht.
Koris; Ht. Mash., 34. Hilang sepoh nampak
senam: the gloss is gone and the black background is seen; a proverbial expression describing the self-revelation of a hypocrite in
his true colours when time begins to show
him up.

C s6pi. Jav. Still, quiet, calm.. sJpegoh or sbpiguh. A marine shell-fish
yielding pearls of little value.
sak. (Riau.) Pocket, from Dutch zak;
(Straits Settlements) saku.,$r sek, sik, sok. (Onom.) Rustling sounds
of various intensity. Sok-sik, or sok-sek: to
rustle.

sakti. [Skr. shakti.] Supernatural power;
talismanic or wonder-working powers vested
in an individual or in a weapon. Dewa yang
s.: a wonder-working deity. A nak panah
yang s.: an arrow endowed with magical
properties; Ht. Ind. Jaya.
Saktikan: to endow with magical or supernatural power.
Kesaktiyan: the supernatural power possessed
by an individual or weapon; the exercise of
that power; an article invested with that
power, a talisman. Mengadu k.: to contend,
magic against magic. See Ht. Abd., I54;
Ht. Ind. Jaya; Ht. Sg. Samb.; etc.

seksa or siksa. [Skr. shiksa.] Punishment,
tribulation, torment, vexation, agony. Sekaya
sudah rasa banyak seksa tetekala ntemsbaiki injfl:

Kirana tiyada saksi yang mnnunjokkan baik
jahat atau salah benar-nya: there was no
evidence to show whether it was good or
bad, true or false; Ht. Abd., 25.:J, sakalit. Pers. Heavy fine broadcloth such
as the cloth of which dress uniforms are
made. Also sakldt, and sakhlat.
4. sokma. [Skr. suksina.] The soul in contradistinction to raga, the body, both, however,
being used in the old Indian theological sense
and not in the modern Muhammadan sense.
Sang yang sokma: the Word-soul, the Universal soul from which individual souls derive
their origin. Sokma also occurs as a mere
complimentary epithet, e. g., puteri sokma (Ht.
Gul. Bak.), nujim sokma (Sh. Sri Ben., 47),
etc.
