y..A) riyap. Shooting up quickly; growing up
rapidly; flourishing; breeding rapidly; spreading rapidly, generally in a semi-contemptuous
or uncomplimentary sense. Meriyap: to
expand; to spread; to sprout up.:C. repet. Merepet and nmte-epet-repet: (Kedah) to
talk much and foolishly; (Riau, Johor)

jr^) repes. Slow and languid motion. Merepes
and menggerepes: to fidget about quietly; to
move the fingers slowly but continually.
JA.4) repus. A variant of rempus or rimpus, q. v.
>b. repek. Merepek: (Riau, Johor) to talk continually and foolishly.
ji riyak. Ripples of water moving away in
circles from the centre of disturbance.
Lonba-lomba main gelombang, riyak-nya sampai
ka-Inderagiri: a porpoise disports itself on
the waves; the ripples it causes spread to
Indragiri; J. S. A. S., III., 34.
3.) riyok. Patah riyok: a compound fracture
in contradistinction to a simple fracture; an
intensitive of patah; Ht. Abd., 24.

RINOH
riyal. [Port. real.] A coin, usually the
Spanish dollar; at Riau, sixty cents of a
dollar. Dulapan ratus riyal pada sa-bulan yaitu sa-ribu enam ratus iupiyah banyak-nya: a
sum of $800 a month, or I,600 Rupees, its
equivalent in value; Ht. Abd., 232.

The use of the descriptive word ringgit has
now generally supplanted that of riyal in the
Straits Settlements; but the word riyal is
still common in Achin and occurs sometimes
in proverbs and books. See J. S. A. S., III.,

riyam. A waterfall or rapid; a swift current
caused by a slope in the river bed or by a
freshet.
Kalau r1iyak, riyam dahulu,
Tenang-tenang kuwala Jamnbi;
Kalau rewak, diyan dahulu,
Tenang-tenaug kita perjadi:
if there are eddies in the river, a freshet must
have preceded them, for calm indeed is the
mouth of the Jambi.
Iy4) rimas. The sensation of being about to burst
out into sweat; just breaking into perspiration. Tuboh kami rimas rasa-nya: we feel
warm to perspiring point; Ht. Koris. Pelohnya pun rimas-r'ias blhasa akan mngtgapuskan
urap-lrapan-nya: there was a very slight perspiration, just enough to remove the perfumed
face-powder; Ht. Sh..^)4 rimau. A tiger; a colloquial variant or
abbreviation of harimau, q. v.
4v. rimah. Crumbs of bread left on the table
at a meal; small particles of food scattered
about the table or floor in the course of a
meal.
Sisa rimah: the fragments after a meal; the
food left in the plates (sisa) and that scattered
outside the plates (rimah); Ht. Koris.
i riyan. A measure of thread; a small parcel
of skeins, the skein (unting) being the
minimum unit of measurement. Cf. tukal.
g:o) renek. Tremulous-of the voice; the tremolo
in music or singing.
4.o) reneh. Mireneh and menggoreneh: to bubble
up slightly.
4cj) rinah. Merinat: to drip; to weep.
