Chubit is confined in use to a pinch, holding a fair amount of flesh, not merely nipping a little flesh, whether between finger and thumb (getil) or between the thumb and finger-nails (seliseh), nor is it used of mere painless pressure as in massage (pichit), nor of a pinch which includes a simultaneous pull (chengkanm) or twist (piyat). A pinch, in the sense of a pinch of snuff or of tobacco, or as a small quantity of food picked up between the finger and thumb and put into the mouth to test the taste; cf. chubit. II.
