The name given to a class of women who exorcise evil spirits by dancing and incantations; female shamans. Hantu b.; (or simply beliyan): the spirits exorcised by these females, especially the "tiger-spirit." These spirits are probably Sakai spirits. III. A brilliant; also berliyan, q. v.;. bliyau. An appellation given to persons whom one does not wish to name for fear of the name attracting attention to what is being said,-e.g. when one is speaking of a tiger in the jungle or of a prince in his own dominions.. b6lewar.
