532 CALENDAR OF LIBERATE ROLLS. 1260. Membrane 2-cont. Oct. 6. Allocate to the bailiffs of Windesores, in the farm of their town, Windsor. 41. 17s. lid. spent by the hands of John Pollard, king's serjeant, at Windesores in the expenses of brother Augustine, bishop of Laodicea, dwelling in the castle, from the Tuesday after the Assumption till Tuesday, the vigil of Michaelmas, as testified by Aubrey de Fiscampis, clerk of the wardrobe. To Richard de Freitmantel, keeper of the manors of Cokham and Braye. Contrabreve to make a wall before the gate of the king's garden at Windesores, and to remove the gardener's house there, put it in a more suitable place to the eastward, and roof it with tiles, by view and testimony of the constable of Windesores and the viewers of the king's works there. To the same, keeper of the forest of Windesores. Contrabreve to repair and amend where absolutely necessary the king's buildings in the park of Windesores, the cost to be credited by view and testimony of lawful men. Oct. 11. Allocate to Gilbert de Preston, in his debts to the king, 201. Westminster. for this Michaelmas term of the 401. granted to him yearly to maintain himself in the office of justice. Oct. 11. Liberate to Simon de Monte Forti, earl of Leicester, 2001. Westminster. for his wife's dower for Easter term in the 44th year. Seepp. 372-3. By the bishop of London and H. le Bygod, justiciar. Oct. 14. *Allocate to Master John de Chyshull, king's clerk, in his arrears Westminster. of the farm of the manor of Totehal, 131. for his expenses while with the king on his service in Gascony, for which he has received nothing from the king. By H. le Bygod, justiciar, Robert Walerand, and Imbert Pugeys. Liberate to John de Wivill 30 marks for this Michaelmas term in the 34th year (as on p. 441). Liberate to the spigurnels 111. 7s. 4d. for 584 pounds of wax for sealing the king's writs from the morrow of All Souls till the Friday after the quindene of Michaelmas, as reckoned by Wibert de Kancia, keeper of the hanaper. Oct. 15. Liberate to John Blundel 5 marks for Michaelmas term in the Westminster. 44th year of 10 marks yearly granted to him to maintain himself in the service of keeping the rolls and writs at the Bench. * Two marginal notes:Vacat quia breve non fuit signatum.
