Liberate without delay to Roger de Mortuo Mari 60 marks to Westminster. buy himself a horse of the king's gift. Liberate without delay to Peter de Gannok 398. 9d. (as in 7th entry above) being 3d. daily assigned to him of the king's special favour before his departure beyond seas for his maintenance till the king's return from the parts of France. Liberate to Peter de Castellione, messenger of the king of Castile, 20 marks of the king's gift for his expenses. To Richard de Freytmantell, keeper of the seven hundreds of Cokham and Braye. Contrabreve to let the king's chaplain in his park of Windesores, who receives 50s. yearly, have his wages out of the issues of the said bailiwick from this Easter till Michaelmas following. MEMBRANE 8d. May 11. To Stephen Fromund, constable of the castle of Merleberg. St. Paul's, Contrabreve to make a new stable in the castle where there was London. one before, two great panes of glass (vitrinas) for two windows in the king's chamber to the west, a pane in the queen's small wardrobe, and glass windows to the chamber by the king's hall; to take the shingle off the ridge of the roof of the king's great kitchen and cover it with lead; to make a louver on the top of the kitchen and roof it with lead; to take the straw off the roof of the outer (forinsecam) chamber in the high tower and roof it with the shingle from the kitchen and make a ridge of lead therefor; to cover the corners and hips (arestas) coming from the ridge on the top of the turret with lead; and to make a ridge of lead for the passage (tresenciam) between the king's chapel and the stairway of his chamber; the cost to be credited by view and testimony of lawful men. MEMBRANE 7. May 22. Liberate to Thomas Godispeny of Dover 61. for 2 tuns of wine Westminster. bought of him by Giles de Argenteym the king's steward when the king was last at Dover on his way to the parts of France. May 25. Allocate to the abbot of St. Edmund's, in his debts at the Westminster. Exchequer, 501. for his expenses in going to St. Omer to meet the king's brother R. king of Almain.
