44 HENRY III. 501 1260. Membrane 8 —cont. king in his other debts to the earl. Vacated quia inferius (next entry but one). To Richard de Freitmantel, keeper of the seven hundreds of Cokham and Braye. Contrabreve to let the king's chaplain of Kenyton, who receives 50s. yearly, have his wages from Michaelmas last till Easter following. Liberate to the king's brother R. king of Almain 500 marks received from the arrentation of the king's Jewry for this Easter term, in payment of the money due to him on the king's jewels. April 23. Allocate to Henry de Coventre and Adam Brunning, sheriffs Westminster. Of London, in the farm of the city, 15s. 1ld. spent by order of Hugh le Bygod, justiciar of England, in carriage of 3,000 marks to Rochester to meet the king beyond seas. April 24. Liberate to Roger de Thurkilby, sitting at the Bench, 50 marks Westminster. for this Easter term of the 100 marks provided for his maintenance as long as he so sits. April 25. Liberate to John de Wyvyll 30 marks for the same term of the Westminster. 60 marks yearly granted to him to maintain himself in the office of justice. April 26. Liberate to John de Suyneford and Richard de Ewell 1001. Westminster. to make certain purchases for the king in the coming fair of St. Ives. AFTER THE KING'S RETURN TO ENGLAND. May 3. Liberate to Nicholas de Sancto Mauro 101. to buy himself a St. Paul's, horse of the king's gift [unless etc.].* London. By H. le Bigod, justiciar. To Richard de Freitmauntel, keeper of the manors of Cokham and Braye. Contrabreve to wainscot the queen's chapel in the upper bailey of the castle of Windesores, her wardrobe there, and a turret at the end of her chamber, to amend a cellar (bovam) in the same bailey, to repair the bridge by the chancellor's chamber on the way to the garden and likewise to repair any other defects in the said bailey where absolutely necessary, the cost to be credited by view. May 5. Liberate to Hugh de la Penne, queen's clerk, 2641. to pay for St. Paul's, harness, robes, and other purchases lately made against the London wedding of Beatrice the king's daughter in the parts of France. * Interlined.
