492 CALENDAR OF LIBERATE ROLLS. 1259. Membrane 10-cont. Dec. 2. Liberate to John Adriant and Robert de Cornehull 1001. Westminster. [78. 6d.] * to make and pay for purveyances against the coming feast of St. Edward. By H. le Bigod, justiciar. Dec. 3. Liberate to Hugh le Bigod, keeper of Dover castle, 200 marks Westminster. for the expenses of keeping it. Allocate to William le Moyne, formerly sheriff of Cambridge, in the issues of the county, 7s. 21d. spent in carriage of 6 swans from Bernewell to Westminster against Christmas last. By H. le Bigod, justiciar, and J. de Crakehal, treasurer. Dec. 3. Liberate to Reynold de Drumar' 100s. for last Easter term of Westminster. his yearly fee of 101. Dec. 14. To John de Wauton, sheriff of Sussex and Surrey. Contrabreve Westminster. to let the king's two chaplains of Guldeford, the one celebrating divine service in the chapel of St. Katherine in the king's court there, and the other in the leper hospital outside the town, have their wages of 50s. each yearly from Michaelmas last so long as he is sheriff. Note that the third chaplain, who celebrates divine service in St. Stephen's chapel in the said court, had a writ for his wages last year on 3 October (p. 478). Dec. 16. To the sheriff of Buckingham. Contrabreve to make 10 marks' Westminster. [worth?] of good and fair bread in the town of Wykumbe at four loaves to the penny against the feast of St. Edward, which will be celebrated at Westminster on the vigil of the Epiphany, and to bring it to Westminster by the third day before the said feast for delivery to the keeper of the pantry. Dec. 30. Allocate to Fulk Payforher, formerly sheriff of Kent, in the Westminster. issues of the county, 20 marks delivered to Solomon Wyberd of Sandewych in part payment of 71 marks for which he bought 20 tuns and a pipe of wine and delivered them this year to Hugh le Bigod, keeper of Dover castle, to equip it. Dec. 31. To the sheriff of Kent. Contrabreve to let the said Solomon Westminster. have 51 marks without delay out of the farm of the county, being the balance of 71 marks with which he bought wine as above. To the sheriff of Lincoln. Contrabreve to let Gilbert de Preston have 20 marks out of the first fines and amercements of his eyre in the county in part payment for this year of the yearly fee which he receives to maintain himself in the king's service, seeing that * Interlined.
