Contrabreve to let the four chaplains ministering in the chapel of Mereuell have their wages as in former times out of the issues of the bishopric. By the earl of Gloucester. Liberate to Roger de Messenden 101. as above, so that in future he shall receive nothing of his fee at the Exchequer, seeing that whereas long ago the king granted him 201. yearly at the Exchequer as a fee till he should make provision for him, he has now done so in an ecclesiastical benefice, but Roger has as yet received no emolument therefrom. June 4. Liberate to John de Swyneford, king's clerk, 101. for this Easter Woodstock. term of his yearly fee of 201. By the justiciar. To the sheriff of Oxford. Contrabreve to repair the gaol of Oxford castle, which has fallen down, and to roof the buildings of the castle which have been unroofed by the wind, both where absolutely necessary, out of the issues of the county, the cost to be credited by view. To the bailiffs of Brixstok. Contrabreve to cause the king's two gerfalcons which are in the keeping of Thomas de Hauvill to be mewed at Brixstok, and to find for each of them ~d. daily, and for a groom to keep them 1 d. daily for his livery, from Easter last so long as they are in moult. June 6. Liberate to Ingram de Percy 30 marks for this Easter term of Woodstock. his yearly fee of 60 marks (see Calendar of Patent Rolls, 1247-1258, p. 608). June 6. To the bailiffs of Suhampton. Contrabreve, firmly enjoined on Woodstock. their loyalty, to carry 20 tuns of wine with all speed to Clarendon, 20 to Merleberge, and 10 to Winchester, out of 50 which Roger le Flemeng, burgess of Suhampton, will take and deliver, and to place them safely in the king's cellars there, not failing hereof as they love their safety. To the sheriffs of London. Contrabreve to carry 30 tuns of wine without delay to Windesores, 8 to Merton, and the rest to Westminster out of 150 which Peter de Gisorciis the king's chamberlain of London is ordered to take and deliver, and to place them
