Liberate to John de Gisorciis and Michael Tony, king's citizens Westminster. of London, 1001. in lieu of a like amount lent for the expenses of the household on the security of Hugh le Bigod, justiciar, and' delivered in the wardrobe to Aubrey de Fiscampo and Peter de Winton, clerks thereof. March 30. Allocate to Stephen Fromund, formerly keeper of the king's Westminster. manors of Somerton, Sheftebir', Melkesham, Chipeham, Amenel, Pilton, Pidinton, Merleberge, Lutegarshale, Gillyngham, Petteneye, and Werne, in the issues thereof, 241. for his expenses in keeping them. Allocate to William de Glouc', keeper of the exchange of London, in the issues thereof, 1001. delivered in the wardrobe to Aubrey de Fiscampo and Peter de Winton, clerks thereof, on the Monday before Palm Sunday (sic) in the 43rd year, as testified by Aubrey. To the sheriff of Surrey. Contrabreve to let Humphrey the carpenter have 2 marks adjudged to him by Masters John and Alexander the king's carpenters and other keepers of the king's works at Guldeford for making a gallery (orielli) and a step by the gate of the king's buildings there. To the sheriff of Hants. Contrabreve to roof and repair the buildings of Winchester castle where absolutely necessary without delay, the cost to be credited by view. To Stephen Fromund, constable of Merleberge. Contrabreve to repair the great stable in the castle of Merleberge where absolutely necessary, and to enclose the ditch lately made to hold fish in the meadow under the castle with palings from the king's own wood, the cost to be credited by view. March 31. To the sheriffs of London. Contrabreve to provide shoes against Westminster. Easter for distribution to the poor (as on pp. 430-431). April 3. Liberate to Simon de Gyenvill 25 marks for Michaelmas term Westminster. in the 42nd year and 25 marks for Easter term following of his yearly fee of 50 marks. By the earl of Gloucester.
