42 HENRY III. 407 1257. Membrane 5-cont. wages out of the issues of the manor of Kyneton from Easter in the 41st year till Michaelmas following. To the sheriff of Hants. Contrabreve, as he loves the king and his honour and himself and all his possessions, to carry all the king's wines that are in Winchester castle to Westminster with speed for delivery to the keepers of the king's cellars (celerariorum) there, not failing hereof as he wishes to avoid his indemnity (sic), seeing that the king intends, God willing, to celebrate the coming feasts of Christmas and Edward at Westminster, and also on account of important business must spend a longer (duciorem) time there than he thought. Nov. 7. Liberate to Amauvin de Varreys 50 marks for Michaelmas term in the 41st year of his yearly fee of 50 marks. Allocate to Hugh de Acavere, formerly sheriff of Salop and Stafford, in the issues of those counties, 2 marks spent on the carriage of the king's pavilions from Thamwrth to Chester last year. Liberate to Arnold de Rabyn, messenger of William de Taliva, 100s. of the king's gift for his expenses homewards. Liberate to William de Munrevell 30 marks of the king's gift for his maintenance, of the old [marks] of the Exchequer of the king's Jewry. Allocate to Walter de Rudham and Martin de Campo Florido, keepers of the bishopric of Carlisle, in the issues thereof, 1001. delivered by Walter in the wardrobe at Westminster to Peter de Ryvallis, keeper, on Tuesday, the feast of St. Leonard. Liberate to Guy de Rupe Forti 201. on the yearly fee granted to him, in lieu of a like sum withdrawn therefrom on account of the wardship of the land and heirs of Gunnora de la Mare, which the king granted to him and which he has restored to the heirs, who are of full age. To the sheriff of Somerset and Dorset. Contrabreve to let Nicholas Red and his colleagues, viewers of the taking of the king's marble at Purbic, have 35z. without delay out of the issues of his bailiwick to pay for marble taken there for the king's works at Westminster, paying by instalments as quickly as possible if he cannot pay one sum at once.
