CALENDAR OF LIBERATE ROLLS.

1257. Membrane 5-cont.
Liberate to William Bluet, John de Bosceby, and John de Bruer
100s. each of their yearly fee for Michaelmas term in the 41st
year, that being the whole sum that they receive yearly.
Liberate to brother Alan, preceptor of the New Temple in
London, 10 marks for his expenses on the king's errand to
Scotland.
Allocate to William de Sancta Ermina, keeper of the manor of
Havering, in the farm thereof, 10 marks delivered to Wibert de
Kancia, king's clerk, for two horses bought of him and given to
William in lieu of his horses lost when last with the king in
Gascony, and 15 marks for a horse taken from William and given
to Adam de Gesemuth in lieu of one lost in the king's service
there.
To the sheriffs of London. Contrabreve to amend the urgent
(necessarios) defects in the Tower of London which need repair
by view of Master John de Glouc', king's mason, and Master
Alexander, king's carpenter.
To the sheriff of Nottingham and Derby. Contrabreve to buy
28 fothers of lead out of the issues of his counties, and carry 20 to
Westminster, and 8 to Wodestok for the king's works.
To the sheriffs of London. Contrabreve to let Master Thomas de
Weseham the king's surgeon have 10 marks of the king's gift out
of the farm of the county of London (sic) without delay.
To the same. Contrabreve to let Henry le Tyeys (Theutonico),
fitter (attilliatori) of the king's crossbows at the Tower, have
60s. out of the same farm to buy fish-glue to repair the crossbows.
Nov. 5. Liberate to John de Kanc', the pope's messenger, 1000 marks,
Westminster. the annual tribute for the 42nd year. By K.
To the sheriff of Norfolk. Contrabreve to let Sarah the
anchoress of Hegham have 209. of the king's gift for her maintenance out of the farm of the county or some other source.
Liberate to Bernard Nicholas, merchant, 7 marks for a cloth
of black samite taken from him long ago by Edward de Westm',
king's clerk, and 100s. for two baudekins and three backed cloths
of Genoese fabric (pannis de Genuen' afforc') lately taken from
him by Philip Luvell, treasurer, to make the king's oblations.
To Godfrey de Liston. Contrabreve to let William de Westm',
