Liberate to William Bonquer 40 marks, being 20 marks each for Easter and Michaelmas terms in this year of his yearly fee of 40 marks (see Calendar of Patent Rolls, 1247-1258, p. 447). Oct. 22. Liberate without delay and without fail to the keepers of the Westminster. king's works at Westminster 400 marks for those works. Liberate to Alice, late the wife of Ralph Ausy, 20s. for the 42nd year of the 20s. yearly granted to her for life to pay the rent of her dwelling, on account of the praiseworthy service done long ago by Ralph to the king and King John his father. Oct. 20. Liberate to the prior of Ploys 9 marks 7s. 8d., to John de Gardino Westminster. 558. 2d., to Adam Vanell 1 mark, to John de Meynill 46s., to Wyot de Amynoys 11s. 6d., to Michael de Plowys 36s. *[2d., to William de Nevyle 41s. 3d., to James de Timbern 40s.,] and to Henry de Mota 57s. 5d., for [the loss of] t their rounceys on the king's service in Gascony, as attested by William de Axemue, king's clerk, receiving from them the king's letters patent therefor. Cancelled quia aliter inferius (p. 400). [Oct.] t 22. Liberate to Mereduc de Karliun 60 marks for loss of horses and Westminster. for expenses incurred lately in the king's war in Wales. Liberate to William de Clare 50 marks for this Michaelmas term of his yearly fee of 100 marks. Liberate to Guy de Lesinnan 1001. which he receives yearly in the name of Gaucher de Chastilun for the manor of Derteford, 501. of the 1001. yearly granted to him as an increase of his yearly fee, and 1001. of his yearly fee of 2001., all for this Michaelmas term. Liberate to the king's two chaplains ministering at the Tower of London their wages at the rate of 50s. yearly from this Michaelmas till Easter following. Liberate to Henry le Tyeis, fitter (attiriatori) of the king's crossbows at the Tower of London, 40s. to buy the necessary gear (attillium) for the repairs thereof. To the bailiff of Winchelese. Contrabreve, on his loyalty and as he loves himself and all his possessions, to pay for one of certain barges out of the farm of the town by view and testimony of four or six good and discreet men of Winchelese who know * Added in margin. t The right edge of the membrane has here been rubbed.
