Allocate to the executors of Robert le Vavasur, formerly sheriff of Nottingham and Derby, in his debts to the king, 50 marks delivered to Ralph son of Nicholas, formerly keeper of the castle of Notingham, for keeping it from the Purification in the 38th year till the same feast in the 39th year, and 25 marks for the like from the latter feast till the feast of St. John the Baptist following. Feb. 7. Liberate to Master Nicholas de Plimton 100s. for the expenses of Westminster. himself and his comrades whom the king is sending on his errand to the archbishop of Canterbury. Feb. 8. Allocate to Gervase de Horton, sheriff of Devon, in the farm of Westminster. the county, 331. 12s. spent in purchase of 144 oxen delivered to the keeper of the larder against Christmas last, as reckoned and testified by William de Grey the king's steward and the clerks of the wardrobe. Allocate to Laurence, chaplain of the castle of Wyndesores, in the issues of the wards (wardarum) thereof, 41. 8d. spent on the liveries of three watchmen and a porter there, each receiving 2d. daily, and 26s. 5~d. spent on the livery of a gardener there, who receives 2Id. daily; all from Michaelmas in the 40th year to the Purification following, both days included. Allocate to John de Plessetis, earl of Warwick, keeper of the castle of Devizes, in his debts at the Exchequer, 25 marks for keeping the castle in the 40th year, and 50s. wages of a chaplain ministering in the king's chapel there in that year, and so on yearly at the same rate as long as he shall have the keeping of the castle. To the sheriff of Kent. Contrabreve to let Master John Clarel, king's clerk, whom the king is sending beyond seas, have a good ship without delay to pass whither he will, as he will tell the sheriff. Feb. 12. Allocate to John de Somerkote, keeper of the exchange, in the Westminster. issues thereof 25 marks delivered to brother John de Dya for his expenses in going to the court of Rome. Rider. Feb. 20. To the keeper of the bishopric of Ely. Contrabreve to let Robert Windsor. Walerand, setting out beyond seas on the king's errand, have 50 marks without delay for his expenses out of the issues of the bishopric, unless already allowed to him by another writ of computate.
