41 HENRY III. 351 1257. Membrane 1 -ont. St. John at Clavering, who receives 50s. yearly for his maintenance; and 3s. 9d. spent on a lamp burning in the said chapel all the time that he was sheriff. Allocate to William de Swineford, sheriff of Norfolk etc., in the issues of those counties, 778. 4d. spent in carriage of 15 last of herring, taken for the king from the burgesses of Norwich, by water from Norwich to Westminster, and of 15 last taken from the burgesses of Jernem'. Jan. 14. To the sheriff of Kent. Contrabreve to pay at the port of Dover Westminster. for the passage of John de Gatesden, whom the king is sending beyond seas with his men, horses, and harness. Allocate to Hugh de Nevyle, in his debts to the king, 25 marks for this Easter term assigned to John de Gatesden for his expenses beyond seas, for which he holds himself to be sufficiently paid. Jan. 14. Allocate to William de Suyneford, sheriff of Norfolk and Suffolk, Westminster. in the issues of those counties, 331. 15s. spent in purchase of 15 last of herring from the burgesses of Gernem' in this year, which were delivered to Master Paulinus and other keepers of the larder at Westminster on the morrow of Epiphany. Allocate to Stephen de Aston, sheriff of Somerset and Dorset, in the issues of those counties, 451. spent in the purchase against Christmas of 150 oxen delivered to Nicholas de Stokbrugg, keeper of the larder, as testified by William de Grey the king's steward. Jan. 15. Liberate to Geoffrey de Bello Campo 601. for Michaelmas terms Westminster. in the 38th, 39th, and 40th years of his yearly fee of 201. Liberate to Master Paulinus de Bampton, king's serjeant, 201. spent on certain purveyances against last Christmas. Vacated quia non habuit. MEMBRANE 10. Jan. 17. Liberate to William de Gloucestria, goldsmith, 5 marks 14d. Westminster. for a gold buckle bought by order of the king and delivered to offer at the feretory of St. Edward on the said saint's day last past. Allocate to the executors of William Hardel, in his debts to the king, 121. of pure silver to make crosiers, 61. 13s. 4d. to make an image, and 26s. 8d. to make chains for a censer, all delivered by William de Colecestr' his clerk to Edward de Westm'; and 60s.
