332 CALENDAR OF LIBERATE ROLLS. 1256. MEMBRANE 1. To Godfrey de Liston. Contrabreve to pay to Herlewin le Normaund, William Blauncpomer, Engelard de Sinagun, and Richard de Aubervill, king's serjeants-at-arms dwelling in garrison in his castle of Windesores, their stipends of 6d. each daily from Easter in the 40th year till Michaelmas following. Liberate to Richard Boxe, citizen of London, 66s. for 200 pounds of wax taken from him by the hand of William de Haselbech, late the king's chamberlain of London, and delivered to the sacrist of Westminster to make a light (luminare) about the feretory of St. Edward against the Nativity of St. Mary last past. Liberate to Michael de Weston, after payments (as under Oct. 3), 74s. arrears of his wages while with the king on his service in Gascony down to the [Thursday] after St. Peter's Chains, as reckoned by Richard le Rus (Ruffum), king's clerk, receiving from Michael the king's letters patent therefor (not on Patent or Gascon Roll). Liberate to Geoffrey le Marescall 72s., to Laurence le Waleis 74s., and to William de Caxton 74s., arrears as above, receiving from them the king's letters patent therefor; all after payments as above. To the sheriff of Nottingham. Contrabreve to pay to Ralph son of Nicholas 10 marks for Michaelmas term in the 40th year of the 20 marks granted to him yearly so long as he shall keep the castle of Notingham. To the bailiffs of Suthampton. Contrabreve to let Juliana de Albiniaco, wife of William de Albiniaco, have a tun of wine of the king's gift without delay. To the sheriff of Oxford. Contrabreve to pay for the 50 pounds of wax which Andrew Poynnaunt took for the king in Oxford. To Peter de Legh. Contrabreve to pay 151. out of his farm of Wudestok to John de Haneberg' to finish the king's chamber. Allocate to Richard de Clare, earl of Gloucester and Hertford, in his first debts due at the Exchequer, 401. 19s. 5d. which he should have received in the 40th year for the barton of Bristol. Oct. 24. To the sheriffs of London. Contrabreve to finish the stone Westminster. quay begun below the Tower of London, to roof the great wardrobe there with lead, and to repair and amend other defects, by view and counsel of Master John the king's mason, the cost to be credited by view.
