40 HENRY III. 325 1256. Membrane 3 —cont. Oct. 9. Allocate to William de Dene and Philip Badirun, in the issues Westminster. of sales which they were appointed to make in the forest of Dene, 1331. 6s. 8d. delivered in the wardrobe at Westminster to Artald de Sancto Romano, keeper, on St. Dennis's day in the 40th year. Like letters to William de Dene and William de Weston, appointed for the like purpose, for 116s. Liberate to William Bonquor 20 marks for Michaelmas term in the 40th year of the yearly fee of 40 marks granted to him till the king shall make provision for him in lands of that value from wards or escheats. Oct. 10. Liberate to Nicholas Karach of Naples and Bernard de Sen', Westminster. messengers of Count Peter de Galabria, 40s. each of the king's gift for their expenses. To the bailiffs of Canterbury. Contrabreve to pay without delay to John Dodeker 81. for 4 tuns of wine, to Gregory le Paumer 38s. for 1 tun, to Walter Adriani 41. for 2 tuns, to Geoffrey Rikeward 41. for 2 tuns, and to Henry, clerk of the exchange, 40s. for 1 tun, taken from them by the hands of Johel the king's butler when the king was last at Canterbury, and reckoned and attested by William de Grey the king's steward. Oct. 11. Liberate to the king's two chaplains ministering in the Tower of Westminster. London their stipends at the- rate of 50s. each yearly from Michaelmas in the 40th year till Easter following, after payments to merchants (as under Oct. 3). Liberate to the king's brother William de Valencia 1901. for Michaelmas term in the 40th year of his yearly fee of 5001. immediately after payment as above. By K. Cancelled quia restitutum est breve et habet alibi breve de computabitur anno xlj~. Liberate to Roger de Messenden, king's clerk, 101. for the same term of the yearly fee of 201. which he receives till the king shall make ampler provision for him, after payments as above. To the sheriffs of London. Contrabreve to find such necessaries as are reasonably required for the king's elephant and its keeper from Michaelmas last past as long as they are sheriffs and the elephant is in London. Oct. 12. To the sellers of the king's woods in the forest of Dene. ContraWestminster. breve to pay to Robert Waleram, whom the king has sent on his errand to Gascony, 70 marks of the king's gift without delay for his expenses out of the first issues of their sale.
