To the bailiffs of Suthampton. Contrabreve to buy a tun of Broomholm. wine and deliver it to the abbot of Netley (Loco Sancti Eduuardi), as the king has granted him one yearly by charter to celebrate divine service in his house. March 21. Allocate to William de Lesseberg, sheriff of Gloucester, in the St. Benet issues of the last eyre in the county, 200 marks, whereof he Hulme delivered 100 at Wodestok on the Monday after St. Scholastica and 100 at St. Benet Hulme on St. Cuthbert's day in March to the king's clerk Artald de Sancto Romano, keeper of the wardrobe, for the king's expenses. March 22. To the sheriff of North[ampton]. Contrabreve to receive the Norwich. lead which the sheriff of Notingham will deliver, and carry it to Westminster for delivery to the keepers of the king's works there. March 24. Allocate to John le Bretun, sheriff of Hereford, in the issues of Norwich. the last eyre of Master Simon de Wauton and his fellows at Hereford, 661. 13s. 4d. paid in the wardrobe at Wodestok by the hands of William de Hida on the Saturday after St. Matthias, and 1001. delivered by the hands of William Sorel at Norwich on Wednesday, the morrow of St. Benedict in Lent, to Artald de Sancto Romano etc. To the bailiffs of Norwich. Contrabreve to pay a mark without delay out of the tallage of Norwich to Sarah the recluse of Hecham of the king's gift. March 25. To the same. Contrabreve to let the king's knight Fortunatus Norwich. de Luka have 4 ells of suitable cloth worth 2s. the ell and a fur trimming of rabbit-skins sufficient to make him a tabard of the king's gift, out of the said tallage. April 4. Allocate to William de Suyneford, sheriff of Norfolk and Suffolk, St. Osyth's. in the farm of those counties, 161. 3d. spent in purchase in his bailiwick of 762 pounds of wax delivered in the wardrobe, price 42s. the hundred; 1121. 6d. delivered in the wardrobe at Norwich to Artald etc. on the morrow of the Annunciation for the expenses of the household; 501. spent in purchase of 23 tuns and 15 sesters of wine in his bailiwick, whereof 10 tuns were bought for 201., 11 tuns for 251., and 2 tuns for 70s., and 1ls. 3d. spent in carrying the wines through divers places.
