Membrane 16-cont. with iron, to make a porch of stone for the hall, to paint the story of Dives and Lazarus in the king's hall opposite his seat, to make an image with beasts in the seat, to lengthen the chamber of the king's chaplains, and to do and repair other small matters in the buildings as enjoined. Jan. 8. Allocate to John de Cortenay, in his debts at the Exchequer, Westminster. 25 marks in lieu of a like sum which he should have received at the Michaelmas Exchequer in the 39th year of his yearly fee of 50 marks. Jan. 8. Liberate to Laurence de Brok 101. for Christmas term in the Westminster. 40th year of the 201. granted to him yearly to maintain himself so long as he is in the king's service. Allocate to John de Somerkote, keeper of the exchange, in the issues thereof, 41. 5s. spent of the king's gift in small matters of harness for Bartholomew de Florentyn and robes for his servants in the newness of his knighthood. MEMBRANE 15. * Liberate to Nicholas de Hadlo 40 marks for his expenses in the office of justice in past time. * Liberate to William de Chenney 45 marks sterling arrears of his wages while on the king's service in Gascony, as reckoned by Peter Chacepork, formerly treasurer, which should have been paid to him on the morrow of St. Martin in the 39th year. No attestation. Jan. 8. Liberate to Roger de Thurk[elby] 50 marks for Michaelmas term Westminster. in the 39th year of the yearly fee of 100 marks granted to him to maintain himself so long as he shall be in the king's service. By K. Allocate to Robert de Dacre, formerly keeper of the bishopric of Carlisle, in the issues thereof, 201. delivered in the wardrobe to Artald de Sancto Romano, keeper, on the morrow of the Epiphany in the 40th year for the king's expenses. Liberate to Reynold de Drumare without delay 15 marks of the king's gift to maintain himself in the king's service, not failing hereof as the king has enjoined by word of mouth and as they love him. * Cancelled quia aliter inferius; see 8th and 9th entries.
