Liberate to the abbot of Susa 40 marks in part payment of the arrears of his yearly fee of 40 marks. Mandate to Philip Lovel to let Arnold, messenger of P. viscount of Tartas, have 40s. for his expenses in part payment of the king's debts to him. Liberate to Ernald Marthan 481. arrears of his wages while with the king on his service in Gascony, and 281. for keeping the castle of Miremunt, all as reckoned by Richard le Rus (Ruffum), king's clerk, receiving from Ernald the king's letters patent therefor. Philip Luvel is commanded, if Ernald cannot have it at present, to let Henry his messenger have 40s. for his expenses homewards in part payment thereof. To the sheriff of Salop and Stafford. Contrabreve for a payment to Marmeduk' son of Richard. Cancelled quia inferius (m. 17, fifth entry.) Liberate to the prior and brethren of the Carthusians 25 marks for Easter term and 25 marks for Michaelmas term, both in the 39th year, of the 50 marks which they receive yearly of the king's fixed alms. Liberate to Robert de Ferariis 501. for Michaelmas term in the 39th year (as on p. 217). Nov. 18. Liberate to Arnold the chaplain and Arnold Guillelmi, mesWindsor. sengers of the good men of Saut, 40s. for their expenses in awaiting the arrival of Edward the king's son, with whom the king will discuss the business of the men of Saut. MEMBRANE 17. Nov. 19. Allocate to Alan la Zuche, formerly justice of Chester, in the Windsor. farm of that county, 9 marks for the issues of the mill of Ryw for the 35th, 36th, and 37th years, when the county was in the king's hand, he having granted the mill to Eignon son of Owen for life in the end of the 34th year in lieu of 40s. formerly granted to him at the Exchequer; and 2 marks delivered to Master Girard the king's engineer in the 34th year for his expenses when sent to order and view the king's works and engines in the castles of Gannok and Dissard.
