Liberate to the king's sister Margaret, viscountess of Thouars, Windsor. 100 marks for the same term of her yearly fee of 100 marks. Liberate to Matthias de Mara 151. 4s. arrears of his wages while with the king on his service in Gascony from Thursday, the vigil of St. Boniface, till Monday, the Commemoration of All Souls, in the 39th year as reckoned by Richard le Rus (Ruffum), king's clerk. Allocate to the mayor and bailiffs of York, in the farm of the town, 301. 18d. for cloth bought of them by Roger le Taylur and Hugh de Turri in the last fair at Westminster in 15 days from Michaelmas in the 39th year. Liberate to Segur de Castro Novo 231. 10s. arrears of his wages while with the king with three other knights on his service in Gascony down to the Thursday after St. Peter's Chains, as reckoned by Richard le Rus (Ruffum), king's clerk; 201. for a horse lost there on the king's service; and 101. for the harness of two knights whom the king decked there with the belt of knighthood at his request; receiving from him the king's letters patent therefor. (Cf. Roles Gascons, I, Nos. 3040, 3265, and 3303). Nov. 16. Allocate to the good men of Gernem', in their debts to the king, Windsor. 191 marks spent in transport of the duke of Lissimburg and the count of Limburg to the parts of Germany. To Master John Clarel and Adam de Hylton, keepers of the archbishopric of York. Contrabreve to pay 271. 18s. 4-d. to the good men of Beverl' for cloth bought of them for the king by Roger le Taylur and Hugh de Turri in the last fair at Westminster, which was in 15 days from Michaelmas in the 39th year. To the sheriff of Northumberland. Contrabreve, from the time when the castle of Werk was committed to his keeping by R. earl of Gloucester and Hereford and John Maunsel, provost of Beverl', and as long as it shall so remain, being in the king's hand, to pay to 8 foot-serjeants dwelling in garrison there their wages of 2d. each daily. Nov. 16. Liberate to Edmund the king's son, whom the king is sending Windsor. to the sea at Dover to meet Edward his brother the king's eldest son, 20 marks for his expenses immediately on view hereof.
