39 HENRY III. 237 1255. Membrane 3 —cont. in the wardrobe to the said keeper thereof on the Tuesday after the Assumption in the 39th year, and 15 marks paid the same day to Nicholas de Sancto Mauro, going on the king's errand to Gascony, for his expenses. Aug. 18. To the sheriff of York. Contrabreve to cover in the works at York. York castle without delay against the coming winter, and to make rubble (attractumrn) of stone and lime against next summer to carry on the same, the cost to be credited by view. To the sheriffs of London. Contrabreve to buy two or three pack-horses without delay out of the farm of their town by view of Peter le Blund, constable of the Tower, and leather sacks (bulgias) as he may find convenient and needful, and deliver them to Geoffrey de Meleces, king's yeoman, to bring the king some part of his arms as enjoined, and to pay Geoffrey 2 marks for his expenses and for carriage of the arms. Aug. 18. To the sheriff of Worcester. Contrabreve to receive 30 bucks Newburgh. from Henry de Candovr' the king's huntsman, whom the king ordered to take them in the forest of Fekham; to salt them well and prepare them, and to carry them to Westminster so as to arrive before the feast of St. Edward next. To the sheriff of Northampton. Contrabreve to receive 60 bucks which the king ordered Robert de Edmundestrop and Robert de Sunninges his huntsmen to take in the bailiwick of Hugh de Goldington, and 30 which he ordered Henry de Candovr' his huntsman to take in the forest of Roteland; and to salt, prepare and carry them as above. To the sheriff of Lincoln. Contrabreve to make purveyance of 6 tuns of wine at Lincoln against the king's arrival, and of 2 tuns to carry to La Bruere, and to carry to Sympyngham 2 tuns of the king's wine which are at Staunford and 2 to Huntendon. To the sheriffs of London. Contrabreve to carry 2 tuns of wine to Royston, 2 to Hertford, and 2 to W[altham?] out of 6 to be delivered by John de Gisorciis. To the sheriff of York. Contrabreve to carry 3 tuns of the king's wines which are at York to Kawode without delay. To the sheriff of Nottingham. Contrabreve to carry 3 tuns of the king's wines which are at Notingham to Lanum without delay.
