8 CALENDAR OF LIBERATE ROLLS. 1251. Membrane 18-cont. Nov. 23. To the same. Contrabreve to heighten and repair the pond of Tutbury. the king's stew of Stafford as necessary, the cost to be allowed by the view and testimony of lawful men. By K. Nov. 26. To the sheriff of Cumberland. Contrabreve to receive the Darley. 200 hinds which G. de Langele, justice of the forest, will deliver, and to have them well salted and carried to York so as to be in the king's larder on the Thursday before Christmas at latest. By the steward. To the sheriff of Hants. Contrabreve to receive the 15 does which John de Venuz, keeper of the forest of Axiholt, will deliver, and to have them well salted and carried to Windesores for delivery to the keeper of the king's children dwelling there, to the use of the said children against Christmas. By R. son of Nicholas. Nov. 28. To the constable of Devizes (Divisis). Contrabreve to repair Nottingham. the buildings and bridges in the king's castle of Divises as necessary, and to make a new turret there, the cost to be allowed by the view and testimony of lawful men. By R. son of Nicholas. To the sheriff of York. Contrabreve to receive 150 hinds and 100 wild boars and sows to be delivered by the steward of the forest of Pykering, 50 roes to be delivered by the steward of the forest of Galtriss, and 50 hinds and 50 roes to be delivered by the steward of the forest of Langwath; and to carry them to York against Christmas for delivery to Stephen Bauzan and others, whom the king has sent to make his purveyance there; and to have the whole ready there as he loves himself on the third day before Christmas. By the steward. Nov. 29. Allocate to the executors of William Hardel, in his debts to Nottingham. the king, 20 marks in lieu of a like sum due to him from William Chaeny, whom the king has pardoned therefor. By K. Liberate to Adam de Basing, citizen of London, 50 marks in lieu of a like sum paid by him to Richard le Rus (Ruffo), clerk for king's serjeants-at-arms; 128. 6d. for repair of an embroidered cope, a cloth, and one-eighth of a silken * cloth, which fell into the water at Stratford bridge, and 5s. 2d. for fringes, orphreys, and waxed cloth for the same; 3s. for Roger le Seur for repairs of a cope; 41. for a chasuble made of one gold-wrought cloth and given to the abbot of Persor'; 67s. 10d. for one red samite for a chasuble given to the parish church of * Waxed under Nov. 4 (p. 3).
