Contrabreve to sell all the treetrunks in the king's essarts of Horsleye and Harestan by view and testimony of lawful men, and to spend the money received thence on the works of the king's castle of Harestan by the same view and testimony. To the sheriff of Wilts. Contrabreve to make a kiln in the forest of Bocholt without delay to make lime for the works of the king's castle of Salisbury and manor of Clarendon, and to carry wood for the same works from the forest of Milset to the said castle and manor. To the sheriffs of London. Contrabreve to carry to Portesmuth without delay the 20 horn crossbows which the constable of the Tower will deliver. To the same. Contrabreve to make a great lantern, well made, which can be well hung in the king's...... in his ship, and send it with all speed to Portesmuth. June 27. Liberate to Laurence de Brok 101. for the term of St. John the Southwick. Baptist in the 37th year of the 201. granted to him yearly for his maintenance so long as he is in the king's service. Allocate to John son of Hugh, escheator of Kesteven, co. Lincoln, in the issues of his escheatry, 39 marks delivered in the wardrobe to P. Chaceporc, keeper, on the Thursday after St. John the Baptist in the 37th year. To the constable of St. Briavels. Contrabreve to send 30,000 quarrels and bolts (fausardorum) to Bristol without delay for delivery to Nicholas de Staunford and Walter le Avener, purveyors of the king's munitions (garnesture). To those who shall be sheriffs of London after Michaelmas. Contrabreve to pay 50 marks without delay for the works at the Tower to the keepers of those works, so that they may not remain unfinished by the sheriffs' default. June 28. Allocate to Ralph de Dungun, king's clerk, in the arrears of the Southwick. issues of the bishopric of Chester while he was keeper thereof, 10 marks for his expenses during that time.
